A new home
With the eye of a true connoisseur Semmie the Forest gnome inspects this truly beautifull mushroom. He has only just arrived in the forest and already found two very important elements for survival in the wilderness, being food and shelter. Thus far this is a very good start of the second part of his adventure.
De people who visit the Flight Forum will recognize this page. This happens to be the first page I colored some 9 months ago and posted on the forum. Then it didn’t have any text and the color palet was a bit different. Because the colors of page 13 turned out so good I decided to recolor this entire page in the same way I did page 13.
Have fun with page 14!

I don’t know if it’s the boosted colors or just that I’m looking at it more intensely, but I’m noticing details this time that I never saw before. The little forest sprite sitting on the shelf-plant on the tree, the squirrels peeking around the corner, and the bear cub – I’d never noticed he was in this scene! The light rays are really nicely done as well, and soften the scene, but might benefit from being just a little bit lighter – they wash out some of the background details just slightly too much. I’m talking about maybe 3-5% lighter – very small adjustment. And overall, an excellent page – it’s surprising that this was one of the earliest ones, yet suits the others so well – I think that’s proof of a very solid and consistent style.

Thanks M! You always say the kindest things!
The fact that you now notice al this detail and not before indicates that recoloring this page was the right thing to do.
You’re right about the light rays, I will put it on my things to adjust list. I was actually not sure about those light rays at all. I have put so much energy in that one tree in the background creating all those details and then put some light rays over it so a lot of it is less visible. But in the end it’s what the picture needed so I kept them in.
Thanks again!
