Schetsen #1
Ik heb alvast enkele schetsen gemaakt voor het volgende verhaal van Semmie de Boskabouter. Hier zullen een heleboel nieuwe characters, voorwerpen en landschappen in voorkomen en het leek mij wel een goed idee om nu te beginnen met het ontwerp van deze nieuwe characters.
Ik ben begonnen met de belangrijkste nieuwe characters in boek 2, dat zijn een kabouter piloot en een musje. Ik heb ook al enkele eerste schetsen gemaakt van een vliegtuig, maar ik zal hier nog wel een aantal zeer technische tekeningen van moeten maken wil het er geloofwaardig (lees vliegwaardig) uitzien.
These sketches are excellent! They really remind me of Hergé in their style. You also have the advantage of being able to put a lot of expression into something repeatable. And again, as I’ve said before, there’s a real market for strongly illustrated children’s literature, particularly in series, in the United States, so keep that in the back of your mind. Semmie is an eminently marketable character with a huge amount of potential, and I would not hesitate to pursue publishing in both the EU and the US when you have a book or two in hand. I think you’ll find it easier than you think.
