Sketches #1
I started making a few sketches for the next story of Semmie the Forest gnome. A lot of new characters, objects and landscapes will be introduced here and I thought it would be a good idea to start designing these new characters.
The most important new characters in book 2 will be a pilot gnome and a sparrow so I started on those first. I also made a few sketches of an airplane but I need to make quite some technical drawings of it before it will look flight worthy.

These sketches are excellent! They really remind me of Hergé in their style. You also have the advantage of being able to put a lot of expression into something repeatable. And again, as I’ve said before, there’s a real market for strongly illustrated children’s literature, particularly in series, in the United States, so keep that in the back of your mind. Semmie is an eminently marketable character with a huge amount of potential, and I would not hesitate to pursue publishing in both the EU and the US when you have a book or two in hand. I think you’ll find it easier than you think.

Thanks man! I’m a big fan of Hergé. And I so hope you’re right about publishing in de US, I would really like that.
Hi. I needed to drop you a quick note to impart my thanks. I’ve been observing your blog for a month or so and have picked up a heap of effective information as well as relished the way you’ve structured your site. I am undertaking to run my own blog however I think its too general and I would like to focus more on smaller topics.
Thanks, glad you like it! Good luck putting up your own blog.
My apologies for the late response, somehow your comment ended up on the spam heap.
