The fast way down

Now things get really thrilling, because these stairs are high! Gnomes are off course extremely tough guys, but it looks like our main character is going to have a really unpleasant meeting with the floor at the bottom of the stairs. And it probably will be quite a bit more unpleasant then the last time he “kissed” the floor (see page 5).

For the technical part of this post I just like to say I’m starting to regret the fact that I put striped wallpaper in every room. At first it seemed a nice and simple way to give the background more shape and appear more colorful. But on this page it was mainly a nuisance. It primarily cost me a lot more time to get the speed in panels 3, 4 and 5 look just right. But I did it and I am very pleased with the end result.

Another thing I like to bring to everyone’s attention is the amazing web comic  6-commando made by my fellow comic artist Mathieu Moyen. Mathieu is this week and the next on vacation and to fill the gap Ryan Hoffman comic maker of Guten Tag and Mega West made a beautiful piece of guest art. Don’t forget to read 6-commando from page one when you’re at it so you can see for yourself it is at his moment one of the best webcomics available. Oh and the guest art for next week is provided by “Yours truly” (from March 1).

Hey girl! I’m sorry you have to wait so long before the next page comes up. It makes me very happy to hear that you can’t wait to find out how this story will end. Therefore I will make a posting of a small drawing off Semmie very soon, especially for you! So keep an eye on this website!

Sketches #1

I started making a few sketches for the next story of Semmie the Forest gnome. A lot of new characters, objects and landscapes will be introduced here and I thought it would be a good idea to start designing these new characters.

The most important new characters in book 2 will be a pilot gnome and a sparrow so I started on those first. I also made a few sketches of an airplane but I need to make quite some technical drawings of it before it will look flight worthy.
